I know there is varying posts regarding this but.... Not sure if it works for the Externally routed ones.
Im looking to adjust the travel on a post that's on my lads new bike. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
uncsrew the collar at the top, lift this up.
then there is a white plastic collat thingy with a slit in it.
lift it up and out rotate it round so the slit is at the back, then reinsert
tighten collar back up.
cycle up and and down this should reduce the travel, that's what I was shown.
thanks
Do you mean the collect that the cable actuator string runs through our the white plastic bushing with the diagonal slits in.... Im just going on a video as I aint opened it up yet.
I'm just bumping this before I open it up.
Turning the plastic collar wont work, all it will do is mean the string cant move.
There are two guides on CRC for stripping the post & rebuilding depending on the travel
105 / 125 -
150 / 170 -
I'm not sure there is anyway to reduce the travel
Stripping it down is no problem.... Watched a few vids and I've stripped a stealth one down a few times. That's exactly what I thought that moving the slot will trap the string.... Its looking like I'm either going to have to trim the seat tube down 10mm... Which I don't really want to do..... Or I go down the Dark Web and get some growth hormones.lol.
If I were wanting to reduce the travel, I would try to get hold of a spare one of those top bushes with the slot and ridge in it. I would cut it down to whatever size you want to reduce travel by and fit it to the stanchion below the existing top bush. From looking at the manual I reckon that should work. I would certainly give it a go myself.
Edit: After watching the above link, I hadn't considered what the inside of the main tube is like. So just try what he did in the video.
Thanks for the response folks.... Ive seen that video previously, it work on the newer version of the Brand X but I'm not sure that the non stealth version has the slots that the plastic shim slots into... Well only one way to find out and that's open the begger up.
The slot is for the alignment key/s to slide in. Should have something along the same lines.
