I am not sue I would trust the rest of the paint. If it's just a couple of marks from storage etc I would just keep it.
I don’t get what the big deal is if someone wants to protect there bike from stone chips and bashes with invisiframe. It’s carbon after all and I have protected other bikes and saved the paint work many many times .
It also protects sell on value .
Which one would you buy ?
1 with no invisiframe and covered in paint chips all over it and rub marks and scratches and to show it’s been abused to the highest order .
Or the same bike but protected still been abused the same way it should be but does not show that abuse due to the protection .
Sorry but I know which one would get the most money back for .
Back on topic the shop says they are waiting on a response from Specialized .
The shop states some bikes come fitted with it on and some with the bit of protection in the box to fit it on .
I'd be annoyed too.
It's a new bike so I'd not expect paint to flake off from removing the tape.
It's not different to buying any other new product- I don't mind it getting marked over time, but it would annoy me to be marked out of the box (unless stated as such and the price reflecting it).
Good news .
Got a call from shop and they have now spoken to Specialized and they confirmed it can happen and has happened with a few frames and they are prepared to repair the paint work .
My Choices were to take it back to shop which is a drive of over 3 hours round trip . Or phone my local Specialized dealer .
Phoned my local which is not to far and they are now going to speak to Specialized and see what’s what as I was given a name for them to speak to that is dealing with it .
Can take 2-3 weeks which can’t be helped .
That's great news mate. As in the shop wasn't underhanded in any way and Spec are showing some great customer service. Spot on.👍
Spring isn't quiet here yet anyway so the delay isn't too bad.😁
Hopefully we'll see some "in the wild" pics once you have the bike back!
That is good news! Wonder what 'repair the paintwork' means.. repair effected area? New front triangle?
I got a whole new frame when my Whyte did similar!

I have a Kenevo expert 2019 I haven’t long got as well as that’s my winter mud cutter , it’s also brilliant fun too . That was also an amazing price from a well known online bike store with price matching and other discounts . Bought a spare battery too so can go on longer rides . I did have to doctor a evoc e-trail with Velcro and a lot of stitching but it’s now perfect . Also when I use the stumpy my missis can use the Kenevo .so there is no rush at all.
Just waiting on local shop to get back in touch .
^^ That's one classy mud plugger there!
Mine is a (still not quiet finished) second hand Bizango I got cheap.
Still,I think there will still be plenty of mud around for when it is fully built up. Hopefully! Lol

Might end up being a front triangle .i just cant see them repainting the bits .
just have to wait and see .
Yep, I would stay a new front triangle too in all likelihood. Spec is a good company to deal with from all accounts.
they'll probably touch up the chips and put "invisiframe" on it to protect it 😉
Lol @ bruneep
I can't believe you would be willing to go to the bother of a replacement front triangle for a couple of little chips on a mountain bike frame which you were planning on invisiframing youself anyway. Utterly bonkers.

In fairness it's Spec that might be going to that bother...😏
I'd stick a sticker over it and get on with it personally. And I hate scratching my bikes, for the first time, after that i just get on with it.
Why wouldn’t I ? What if those little paint chips which is showing the carbon gets crap inside it lifting tbe rest of the paint .
Or even worse it’s acrualy damaged internally making the bike weaker .
Or the paint all over is shoddy .
Some people just don’t know the value of money ! I do like to protect my investments .
Specialized are good at sorting problems out as for everybody saying don’t worry about it not everybody has three grand to spend on a bike plus if I scratch it that’s all well and good but if it’s been done by the shop then I would be very annoyed that the hid it .
Make sure you spend some money in the spesh lbs you didn't buy the bike from who are now dealing with your warranty claim .
They'll be nothing if not a tiny amount in it for them dealing with this for you so think of that if not already .
Glad it's sorted .
All those very opinionated comments on it's only a ****ing bike just ignore

Yes pal I will do . I need some tyres for it anyway as the butchers are crap . Not sure about the rear tyre might just change that out to .
Also changing my brakes over to the something with more bite as I’m a big lad . The guide R are crap .

Does this level of pretty paint hand wringing really warrant two pages?
Glad it’s sorted .

He came on here specifically asking for opinions. Not everyone has to agree.
It's a MTB - hopefully more wholesome paint chips to come.
Pointless thread once again of anal cyclist.
^^ I'm sure every one of your threads are oh so important tdog and are required reading of the first order?
Yeah, thought so.

Investment.
"the investing of money or capital in order to gain profitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value."
Love it when people describe their Mtb as an investment 😂😂
Investment in fun maybe, but if a couple of paint chips spoils your fun thats pretty sad 🙁🙁
Ask the shop to source you a touch up as a gesture. Use it and then put your new invisiframe over the top.
I would be more annoyed about missing one, one hour ride, compared to those paint chips. Just ride the thing
Or even worse it’s acrualy damaged internally making the bike weaker .
some of my bikes should be dust by now then given the amount of paint that's missing!
Specialized paint work hasn’t been good for a few years tbh!! My old 26er camber didn’t have a mark on it after 3 years of abuse, my last camber scratched after it’s first wash, my new fuse is the same, even broke the water bottle screw in bit after 8 weeks of getting it. My work crosstrail has scratches and chips but I have no idea where or how it only goes to work 3 miles each way!
I will say this my new stumpy I know it’s carbon and a different paint style it’s dull rather than shiny so hoping that will be better.
None of my bikes came with any protective tape except the down tube, seems odd yours did.
You could always ring Spesh UK and see whether it is properly warrantied. After that, I'd take 2 chips for £2k.
