just fitted some bb7 with a 160mm disc to my bike and now under heavy braking the front forks start to reverberate, seems to happen at a certain speed 10 to 15 miles per hour. been using these forks with bb5 for the past 5 months and no problems at all.
Anyone know what the problem is and better still how to fix it
Cheers
I've had the same problem and it bugged me for ages. Assuming its not the obvious disc contamination, then take a careful look at the height of the caliper and particularly the pads in relation to the disc. If they're running over the spokes of the disc itself then that can cause the pulsing of the brake and the resulting rapid flexing of the fork leg you're experiencing. Hope that helps!
Oh sorry.....PS to fix obviously adjust the height of the caliper!!
thanks smif****
just looked at the height of the caliper and its close possibly running a mm or two over the spokes i'll try a few washers in there and see how i get on
cheers smif**** problem sloved
Had a similar problem with Hope mono minis which was cured by swapping to an XT rotor, the depth of braking surface on the Hope tapered between the spokes whilst the XT was a constant depth. It'd be interesting to see if others have noticed this too.
