Hi guys ,
Im biting the bullit and to stop pouring good money into bad brakes (helix 3)I am upgrading to Shimano xt m785 ,all good so far ,i also want to upgrade to 180 rotors. Am i correct in thinking i only need to get the bigger rotor and a adaptor (rear mount adaptor to is 180mm)and can is it a simple DIY job?
Yes, just rotors and adaptors to suit.
Make sure you get the correct adaptor, post to post or IS to post, if you are getting M785's you will want Ice-Tech rotors to match the pads, you will need to order these in Centerlock or 6 bolt, depending on what spec your hubs are.
Just ordered ,including the rotors ,i imagine ill be over the bars shortly ha ha thanks for advice
I've got xt m785 they're awesome, true one finger braking at last.some testers are saying you only need 160 rotors because they're so powerfull.

No you don't, any rotor will do
Ace brakes BTW
I have the 785's.just fitted them the other day, awesome shiny new brakes ๐
only slight problem i had when fitting mine was i had to drop the rear shock to get the cable routing right, well didnt have to route it but thats how the old brakes were fitted so thought best to copy it,
mine never came with the ice fin pads but the normal pads are good enough to stop on a tanner
I run mine on standard (avid) rotors no problem
