Just fitted my new XT brakes and I'm thinking my rotors (Shimano RT75s) could do with reconditioning, so is it worth sticking them in the oven for cleaning/ stress relieving purposes?
What household cleaners are best for rotor cleaning?
Cheers.
Step away from the oven!! Try this guide first.
hmm do you have any details of the heat treatment required and can you replicate it in a domestic oven? I think you might be over thinking it and it's probably best leave the heat treatment to Mr Shimano ๐
As for cleaning - IPA or dedicated disc brake cleaner - the stuff without rust inhibitors. IPA is the safest bet (iso propyl alcohol).
If you use anything the leaves a residue you will contaminate your new pads. You can get IPA down at maplins or your local chemist.
edit: beaten to it by a link!
reconditioning
eh?
clean them with ipa.
Greene King doesn't work though.
