I have a cube acid with hayes stoker Rydes fitted which is driving me mad.
The stopping power on the front brake is just not as strong as I would expect it to be.
My mate bought the exact same bike from the same shop so it is easy to compare and his works so much better than mine.
To be honest I have not ridden the bike that much but now I have the bug I am looking to get everything right.
I thought that maybe I had contaminated the pads rotors or both so I bought new pads from my lbs (Aztecs sintered I think) and cleaned to rotors with muck off disk cleaner and an IPA areosol that I got from marlins.
The next few rides they were better but now they seemed to have returned to not that great. I wondered if they needed bleeding so I took it into my lbs today and he thinks that they don't. He told be to file the pads a tad and try them over the next few rides. The diffence between my and my mates is massive. I tried his again today and nearly went over the bars at 5 mph. If i am lucky i can do a slight endo eventually while slamming them on at 15 mph.
Please don't suggest new brake because that is not a option.
Anybody got any ideas or advice.

Should I maybe sand the rotors?
defiantly worth trying a bleed!
As a long shot, check fluid isn't leaking within the calliper contaminating your pads.
Do you tend to drag the brakes, or slam them on at the last moment? What does your friend do? Might be you glaze the pads if you're feathering brakes a lot rather than slamming them on.
Find a nice gritty bit of wet mud & spread it all over your rotor's. Get up a decent bit of speed & brake hard. This removes any glaze & also beds pads & rotors together...better than sanding rotor.
Ensure you keep cleaning products / lubes well away from pads & rotors. Check for any signs of leaking fluid.
Thanks for your replies, , I would say that I do drag the brakes probably a lot ,never gave that any thought. That's what happens when you can only see out of one eye, you spend a lot of time ****ing yourself lol. My rotors do feel super smooth could that the problem ?
rotors are supposed to be smooth, don't sand them!
Any other advice or ideas before I throw them away tonight ๐
