[Closed] Brain melt aaaargh! (bike choice content)

So, it's my 40th this year, and my wife wants to spend around a grand replacing my (very) aging road/year round commuter bike. This is fine with me, as I've been wanting to do it for quite some time but funds have been a little tight.

So, I thought I'd nailed what I wanted with a Carbon Planet X SL but, now I'm toying with a Planet X Uncle John, as it seems a little more of an allrounder and so can fit mudguards, a rack etc for winter/multi-day touring.

Thoughts, as I'm starting to go mad!!!
