Can a 4 man be used comfortably by two people or is there just too much roof to support?
Any makes to avoid?

yes, just stick more under your bum.
I've used a 6 man for 2 and a dog.. no problem.
Great for lunch stops on wet days in the hills.

4-man's probably better actually. The advantage of a smaller one is less weight to carry.

I've a couple of Outdoor designs ones, can't fault them and certainly cheaper than Terra Nova stuff.
Might as well get a 4 man one while you're doing.
