Basically Im wondering if there is a way of getting from Birtenshaw or Oaks lane near Canon slade so i can get to Eagley and onto Dunscar golf club without having to ride through Bromely Cross and Higher Ridings.
Yes, but that would involve crossing the bridge where the trolls live 😉
That metal bridge thing? I tried crossing the bridge and gling up some steps with the brook on my right and it was a narrow singletrack but coz it was dark i didnt get too far. Looking on google maps there seems to be a bit which comes out near the spread eagle. Any ideas? I know im a pain haha.
You were on the right track, pretty hard to find though even in the daylight never mind in the dark! There is an opening on your left probably 100 metres from the steps the banking drops away. Follow that path through the forest, it's all single track for a while then it has been laid into a proper gravel path. Take the right fork. When you get to the bottom of Haugh lane you will need Togo through the mills to cut through to dunscar.
When i went up the steps i followed the path i was on till you go round a corner like the brook does and then it splits in two the path. I tale the left one then? as the right one was pretty close to a valleu drop into the river, but looked like it joins up with the other one.
I shall have a bash in the morning before having go back to bed for work at night.
