[Closed] Body geometry fit system

A friend in the US said that bike shops over there won't sell you a bike unless it is specifically set up to your body geometry. Now some Specialised dealers seem to be offering the service at £120, on top of the bike, so does it make a difference? Is it worth it? Shouldn't the shops be fitting a new bike to you anyway?

Has anybody applied this system to mountain bikes?

Thanks

MM

G/f has her bottom measured by a nice man... Using a foam pad, much happier with the Specialized Seat that fits her 'sit' bones. Dunno about the rest of it though. As post lately I have a short friend, who now rides a large spesh, I doubt he'd have got that from a dealer if he had to be ' fitted', but he's happy so what's the problem?
Sounds like the shop your m8 is using is having a laff (I await the ridicule from US spesh shop owners...)

Now I've no problem with most Specialized kit - the shoes are by far the most comfortable for me - but the BG saddles I've had were the most uncomfortable things I've ever had the misfortune to perch my arse on.

Katie's experience was the same (in fact she blames hers for the onset of her Sciatica). We both persevered beyond any 'get used to it' period.
