I'm awaiting a delivery tomorrow with a proper part, but there is a possibility of a ride tonight... So I fitted rigid forks to my bike, then I realised that the Post-2-IS adapter I used to have had now disappeared! I came up with something like this... [img] [/img]

It is a rear adapter fitted upside-down, then a front post-2-post fixed into it, then the caliper. The pad seems to grab the disc fully, as it should. Morning commute did not show any problems (but it was all mainly rear braking - just in case). Is there any risk of instant death here?

Not instant, no.

Slow and lingering is a possibilty. No spoons to hand?

You could potentially be putting different loads on the mount and therefore the fork if the caliper is in a different position around the disc surface, but I personally would ride that without worrying, as long as it's putting the brake into the right position and the disc size is within limits for the fork.

No worse than Avid/Srams mounts.

I don't see a massive problem with that, I was always of the understanding that rear adapters would work fine on the front except they would require a 20mm larger rotor.

I have run varying different adapters on the front and rear with different size rotors with no problems.

front and rear PM to PM should be interchangeable, just with one being +20mm.

Should be used the same way up.
