631 made to order/off the peg frame.
Price wise there's nothing in it, but I'm leaning towards the Bob Jackson due to the name, I associate Steve Goff with TT bikes.
Any recommendations.
These are their frames made in house, but to a standard spec with no geometry/size custom options.
People come all over the planet to get measured up for a Bob Jackson frame. Wife loves her road bike, got exactly what she wanted and never regrets spending the £100 extra she paid for the made to measure.
paint on bob jackson frames is pish.
had 2 in the past.
mercian on the other hand is classy.
Couple of hundred quid more for the Mercian ton. And on top of that a few things I want just happen to come as standard on the Jackson, but are extra with Mercian i.e power forks/ahead/f-mech brazing/double bottle bosses/headtube guides.
But how did you find the Jacksons (can't abreviate a Bob Jackson :?)
very nice frames as you would expect for a custom build.
i had a mtb off them in the late 80's then a tourer a couple of years later.
paint on the tourer flaked after a month or so.
i had it resprayed, it flaked again.
got knocked of the tourer and it died............doomed frame maybe?
