Just order from Europe.

Or, all the boardman 29er bikes seem to be linked to Wiggle on the official website, so give them a call and see what they can sort out for you.

Because outside of STW the buying public doesn't want them.

That's not really true though is it...

In XC racing they're really popular now, and they outnumbered 26" bikes last time I stopped in Peaslake. People just don't really notice, but if you look, they're far more common than they've ever been. Particularly considering they've been around for 7+ years, their numbers have grown a vast amount this year.

What percentage of the bike buying public take part in XC races?

Ditto for Peaslake. Niche-whoreing-willy-waving-car-park-tastic! 😉

Am I too late to moan about these new fangled suspension bikes?

It's due to their distribution arrangement with Halfords. Annoyingly I had the same problem with their CX bikes, the Pro model is on the Wiggle website for international orders but in the UK you have to go through Halfords, who only stock the less well specced version. They need to find a way of getting the more niche stuff out there without pissing off Halfords, because there clearly is a market for it.

I saw Boardmans for sale in Corridori in Epsom. Apparently they are selling the higher level ones that aren't available in Halfords

Not the point, there is a significant area beyond STW where 29ers are becoming rather popular. Boardmans are also popular for racing. Ergo, 29er Boardmans would probably sell rather well to the XC race crowd if no one else. Considering the market for £6000+ racey 29ers (S-Works Epic/hardtail, Trek Superfly, Scott Spark/Scale, Cannondale Flash/Scalpel) I imagine something 1/5 the price has a market.

I could envisage the 'hilarious' comments about Peaslake as I typed that. 🙄

Have done, no response just yet but I'm not surprised by that, I wasn't expecting a instant reply

To be fair the comment I expected was more along the lines of the fact they were parked, rather than being ridden anywhere, but nice to get a bit of geography specific abuse in there.

We need Gee on this thread. He has many 29ers, rides in the Surrey Hills and drives an S4, the embodiment of the STW stereotype. Except he rides, and ****ing fast. 😕

Because despite the disproportionate coverage given to them in magazines, you rarely see any out on the trails, so presumably the market isnt really there. And anyway, attention-mongers probably wouldnt be seen dead on a Boardman.

Either that or the manufacturers aren't keeping up with demand (the Cube 29er thread on STW supports this view).

Did someone order a stereotype?

I'm being a stereotype in the Downs tomorrow Nick if you fancy a ride?

Anyway 650b is the new niche.

650B with a 29er front? 679er?

It'll happen. Maybe.

Joke: How do you know if someone owns a 29er? *

Punchline: Because they will f*****g tell you.

* Variations include vegan, fat bikes, just bought an Audi, etc.

Halfords have got into 29ers a bit with their Voodoo range- I guess they'll see what happens with those.

Though, let's be honest here, a lot of people who like 29ers wouldn't be happy buying one from halfords.

Having tested quite a few bikes around Peaslake, I can't help thinking that this is an area made for 29ers. The willy waving is the AM big travel stuff being tooted around T trails etc. IMHO of course!

PP good joke BTW!

They don't have to be new Stu!

To be fair I'm just trolling. Wouldn't mind one myself and will probably go there with my next purchase.
