Will be up for a Halfords C2W voucher soon and toying with 2 bikes now!

Boardman Team FS 650b

Boardman Pro HT 29er

Currently ride a HT 29er but not really using it for small local rides any more, tend to get out on my road bike. So will just use it for the full day rides, normally trail centres or weekends away.

Because of this I'm being drawn to the full suss for a bit of playing and the only full suss I can find within the £1000 limit is the above Boardman.

Any views??!

I got the 650b team HT as I have a 26inc full sus spech camber had the boardman over 6mth and not only used my camber once since getting the 650b.. If you have an HT why not get the full sus then you have a option of what bike you want to ride.

The HT will be sold when I get the new one..... only space for one MTB and one road bike!

The HT is the better spec'ed bike but if you can afford to upgrade the 650 then I would go for that.

Thanks Neilson - certain can upgrade over time - and looking at previous threads on same sort of thing you seem to be well placed to advise!!!

I had the previous (26") FS Team for almost 3 years and it was brilliant for the money. Friend got the 650b version in the summer and loves it. That's what I'd go for!

In between full suspension bikes and I keep looking at these. The only two hangups are the chainring sizes a bit bigger than I'd like and replacement ones don't seem readily available and a steepish HA 68.5 deg. I'd probably just change the brakes tyres and finising kit and it would be a bargain I think and still be alot cheaper than anything comparable. Hmmm

On a very short test ride the Head angle seemed OK - for the money, the only other full suss at that price I can find is the Giant Trance..... which doesn't appeal with the low level running gear!

I had a look around to see what was comparable, the vitus bikes on crc look good for a similar budget. I was looking at offset bushings and some one has added a review saying it greatly improved the handling of his. Could have been added by the supplier but its food for thought. I am 90% set on buying one.

I've got a 26" Boardman fs, if i was buying again i'd go a for a large because if you want to fit a shorter stem even if you're average hight (5'9" in my case) you will be quite cramped cockpit wise.
Oh and theres a bit flex at the backend when really pressing on but they might of sorted this with the 650 version.

From the (very short) ride they let me take it on I didn't notice any concerning flex.... but the test wasn't all that around a car park!

Drawn to the 29er because of the wheel size, being 6ft1 and riding a 29er currently (which will be sold), but drawn to the FS because will be more fun.

What I need is a good spec'd 29er FS hmmmm!

A good starting point would be explaining to us and yourself what's wrong with the current mountain bike

It's a voodoo bizango 29er

Nothing wrong with it at all but was on c2w scheme, runs out next month and can get a new one on a fresh scheme.

That way new warranty and instant cash income when sell the old one. Considered a savings plan as well as a new bike 🙂
