With all the fuss over the new Orange Rx9, im thinking of a cx bike to replace my hybrid, i have the canal network on my doorstep and tbh the hybird struggles alot when i try to blast down the canals and i really don't want to go blasting down on my camber.

The Rx9 is outside the budget for c2w but the Boardman is within budget, so any thoughts? or are there better cx bikes to be had for c2w?

I've had the Boardman for about 5 months now.

Good:
Lighter than the competition
Frame feel is quite road-bike like, if that's what your after (I was).
Has all the rack/guard bosses.
Discount available with BC membership

Bad:
Halfords are crap
Brakes aren't BB7
Sram Apex is light, but I'm not really a fan of the shift.
BB30
Colour and graphics will age badly

The Pinnacle £1000 cross bike has shimano and BB7s, is a bit more 'touringy' and a bit heavier. Plain silver will feel more 'timeless'.
Evans are probably marginally better than Halfords.

I currently ride 30/40 miles on the hybrid, normally days off when i can't get to the trails, would be nice to nip down the canals or head into local woods for a diversion but still have some speed on the roads. Will have a look at the pinnacle, have an evans local to me.
