I am trying to fit an integrated headset to my sons BMX, the upper and and lower shells are different sizes, the BMX headset i ordered has two bearings the same size? is this normal, it is a superstar carlton frame if this is of any use, it looks like the boy will not be riding BMX over Easter!

You'll need a campagnolo style integrated headset.

What do you mean by shells?

If it is an integrated headset the two bearings should just sit inside the frame there will no cups at all.

Yeah not shells, seated in the headtube, the bearings i have are campy 45/45, i definitely need a smaller size for the lower one? read something about 45/36 but this is just an angle difference. the upper bearing is about 41mm and bottom 36mm, any ideas.

Phew all sorted now, there was half an old bearing sitting in the head tube I didn't see, I feel stupid now.
