Unfortunately the bleed fitting was missing from my bleed kit so had to try and bodge something. A drinking straw in the master cylinder worked to some extent but is there a better way?

I heard that using a syringe to push the fluid from the caliper is better than the bottle method that Hayes suggests?

Cheers for any help...

Using a bottle on the caliper on my hayes 9 it seems to take a lot of force to push the fluid through to the master cylinder. Also i seem to have to open the bleed nipple an awfully long way which means fluid comes out of the threads.I always stick some old pads in when i'm doing it.
Still not had problems with them after 4 years use though.

Been using a syringe to bleed them for ages, unfortunately for you the only bit worth having from the Hayes bleed kit is the adapter that you've lost.

I've got away before with chopping the end off a cable end cap. Push the wider mushroomed end into a bit of tube attached to a syringe and then wrap a zip tie really tight over the join.
