Hi all,
Got my Avid bleed kit out the garage, but realised one syringe is missing, well, both are there, but I'm missing one set of the fittings.
So, is there anyway I can bleed my brakes with just one syringe? Put it into the caliper, hold a rag over the bleed port on the lever, and squeeze a load of new fluid through? Be messy, but would it work?
(Considering when I normally bleed by brakes I just do the same, but with a syringe in the lever too, I don't faff about with Avids 3 stage bleed lark).
On a semi-related note, are these any good? Just that they won't come for the weekend, hence the above question.
Thanks, Duane.
Not sure of the quality of the kit, but it pretty much looks identical to my Avid one.
Or this one actually, as it comes with fluid;
Any thoughts on bleeding with one syringe?
Ive got one of those ebay bleeding kits (the 2nd 'Cyclonix' one). Works perfect, although I've never tried the genuine avid kit so have nothing to compare it with.
Have never tried one syringe on its own.
I bleed my hayes and juicies with one syringe, using an adapted version of the hayes technique.
basically, syringe on the caliper, tube from lever reservoir to an old bottle, push fluid up through, pull syringe a few times to get bubbles out of caliper, flick lever a few times, keep pushing fluid through till no more bubbles.
works every time i've done it. I use the syringe instead of the hayes squeezy bottle as its much easier to get the fluid flowing and to pull the air back out of the caliper.
Thanks, the problem is really that I don't have the fitting to screw into the lever though, so can't attach a syringe/bottle/tube to it. I guess I can just press a syringe into the hole and seal it as tight as possible, but it will be far from perfect.
