By this do you mean propper bike riders as opposed to the SRAM 1x11 boys.

This means dingle out back. Dingle up front. Rigid style. Double Double Dingle. Here is an example on the back end with fixed and freewheel options. You can also do same up front.

Basically for people who cover huge distances and want a bike to last the milage of say a world trip.

seen a few bikes with it on for the above, round the world etc. Tis handy if your only dropping a tooth or two. If more you'll need the ability to adjust chain tension by a fair bit.
