...out of Ebbw vale.
All suggestions welcome and gps links too if anyone has owt.
Probably heading there for the weekend.
With thanks, Sharki x
Actually out of Ebbw Vale, or in the vincinity of it? If just nearby, the Blorenge is good for a couple of hours (doable in an evening). For something longer do the classic Black Mountains killer loop http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=kdtelxubjpmdgfwq or the Llangors loop http://www.mtbbreconbeacons.co.uk/hubs/talgarth/llangors-bwlch
All fairly standard answers, sure someone can come up with something a bit more imaginative!
The Gap route is a must use google to find a route it's a popular one, if I wasn't working this weekend I could have guided you maybe, any way have fun great area for riding.
I'd say to avoid the Gap for at least a year, it's been smoothed out for the 4x4s and no longer has anything technical (unless you do the Dol-y-gaer descent, which is ace). Black Mountains are the best bet for a long ride, some cracking stuff near Talybont but it's finding the right trail to guarentee rocky related fun if you're not in the know that can be difficult. Head up to the Trefil and descend Dyffryn Crawnon is a cracking descent.

There's only one Brecon, there's no need to pluralise it.

[color=blue]Which section is this?
I rode the 'official' Gap route last week, but none of the sections were named like this.

Dolygaer is on the way over from Talybont-on-Usk as you drop down from the hills to the west . I agree that the Gap is overrated, there's better riding either in the Black Mountains or on the hills between Talybont-on-Usk and the Pontsticill Reservoir area.
