[Closed] Biking (road or mtb) in Burgundy / Champagne region?

I'm planning on stopping for a couple of days riding somewhere in the Burgundy / Champagne regions (en-route from Calais to Grenoble). Has anyone biked round there? Any advice on where would be the best place to stop which have a few circular rides? Preferably with riding from a campsite - either road or mountain bike. It's a big area and I can't find much information on the 'web, apart from organised cycle holidays.

Any other information on maps / routes / campsites / places to eat etc much appreciated.

There are some really excellent road rides around both areas, but I don't have any copies of the routes I've done - sorry.

That said, both areas are very easy to navigate around and you could easily put a few nice rides together aiming for towns to link up. I've not done any rides off-road around there but I'd be surprised if anything was really noteworthy compared to the well surfaced, and pretty quiet roads...

Actually - Grenoble? The route from the 2001 TdF up to Chamrousse is an excellent, smooth climb - if you like that kind of thing.

Doing this route clockwise http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/grenoble-to-chamrousse up to Chamrousse is the TdF TT route. I haven't done the return part of the loop (we were staying in a van halfway back down the hill)...

We drove through that way last week, going to Les Arcs. I would highly recommend stopping in Beaune. Very pretty town with lovely shops, and plenty of fantastic wine. Did a tasting there at Marche aux Vins. 15 burgundies for 10 euros, and an interesting experience as well. From there you could do some long rides through the burgundy villages, heaven 🙂

If you stop in Southern Burgundy get info on the Voie Vert.

Also try the wine Co-ops in Buxy and Lugny. Highly recommended.
