Heading out to Vegas for work and I have a free day. Any advice on some decent mtb trails around red-rock area? I have seen a few clips and pics online, but it looks a little tame, am I missing something? Going to hire a bike out there too, so appreciate any suggestions.
Bootleg Canyon?
there's a cracking zip line there too
It's going to be hot mind
What he ^^^ said. Very very hot though. You can hire bikes in Boulder City to ride in Bootleg. Have a peek at the Hoover dam while you're there.
We hired bikes from las vegas cyclary with a guide for half a day.
It was brutally hot and truely beautiful
great ride and I'd do it again in a second

As said above - Bootleg Canyon just outside Boulder City... it's where they hold the Interbike dirt demo days.
some great bits of singletrack and rocky downhils, and yep - very hot, use sunblock... i rode in mid March and managed to burn my lips (no idea)
I hired a Nomad with Domains from All Mountain Cyclery - they were even kind enough to swap the brakes (l/h - r/h) for me
