I quite like the thought of hiring a boat to potter along the Caledonian canal, stopping off at places to do a bit of mountain biking - anyone on here done it?ย  If so, can you let us know how you got on please.

(Mrs B would like to do one of these coastal boat & bike journeys, but she knows what a rubbish pukey sailor I am:))

I've not done it myself but we've supplied bikes to some boaters.

Obvious mountain biking spots are Fort William, the Corrieyairack from Fort Augustus and sections of the Great Glen Way, especially the High Level sections north of Fort Augustus and around Abriachan where there are also other marked trails and the most "intriguing " cafe tucked away in the woods. There are other trails in the hills abive Drumnadrochit too. There are also sections of the South Loch Ness Trail that you might enjoy, though the most technical bit - the Fair Haired Lads Pass is subject to a diversion this year for timber extraction.
