Wheelies wont let you use anyone else, your insurer has to provide a suitable bike that is representative of the one you had stolen - if you want a Merlin Malt and Wheelies can't get it, then demand the cash.

Regardless, I'd ask for the cash from your insurer and use that money to buy 2nd-hand-but-new from here, or find a good deal with a LBS or online retailer.

I had not added the bikes to my insurance (doh!!) so i am only insured for £1000 anyway which is probably what it will cost to replace the Merlin Malt now with the same spec.

The bikes on Wheelies seen to be shocking value for money.

find out the total amount you are due in your claim, eg. £1,500

get a written quote from another lbs/bike supplier on something you want (for a similar amount) and not just something wheelies has

tell you insurer/loss aduster that that is what you want

spend the cash on what you actually want

The bikes on Wheelies aren't actually badly priced, that's just the retail price unfortunately.

I have got one of my stolen bikes back (Boardman Team Hybrid)

I caught the scumbag riding it near to where i live so grabbed hold of him and called the police. He claims he bought it off someone and denies stealing it. Hopefully the police will find the other bike.

There was quite a lot of people round otherwise i would have battered the idiot

rickon - i appreciate that Wheelies are only selling at retail price but i can get more for my money from halfords / merlin cycles and just want direct replacements for what i had

Well done for grabbing the c*nt too, I hate the way some people feel that if they haven't earned something they can still have it.

thanks rickon. my insurer has agreed that i can go through merlin cycles now that i have provided them with receipts. i am happy with this option.

the lad was whinging that he was out of pocket because he had paid £50 for the bike - unbelievable.

i am going to avoid boardman bikes in future - i think they are great value for money but tend to attract thieving scums attention more than any other brand.
