[Closed] bikes in bike bags without tyres-bad idea?

I am over the jet2 limit for my bike bag and was wondering if I should take the tyres and inner tubes off and carry them seperately (probably save me a couple of kgs at least).

Is this a bad idea, will it increase the chance of bent rims if handled "inappropriately"?

The bike bag is a neil pryde type thing so soft but padded.

Jet2 are £10 per kilo if you're over btw. Tyres definately seem like they'd give a bit of protection for the wheels Cranks in hold luggage maybe? That's a nice compact lump of weight.

Cranks in hold luggage maybe?
I can see that working well with the security guards at check in...

Your rims will be fine.

Wheelie bags balance better with the cranks off.
