Evening all.

What bikes would you reccomend for riders on the heavy side? I'm 22 stone and use a scott ransom which is ok, but not quite beefy enough. I mostly do freeriding with some XC.

So lets have it, what bike should I get next?

Cheers

I'm a lump... and have a GT Force 1.0, which rides nicely and seems to be standing up to abuse well (apart from the Shimano XT hubs which are made of cheese!)

I am a big lad, had a Marin B17 and upgraded to a Cannondale Prophet...new issues with either...both great, but I personally prefer the Dale

Guys you need to be carefull. I'm 25st and ride a nicolai, its not if the frame can take it, but if your heavy and you want the suspension to work you need a low leverage ratio.

For example, last year i had a nicolai helius fr. It has a 57mm stroke shock and 167 rear wheel travel. A leverage ratio of basically 3...I needed a 1200lb spring which I had custom made, this caused all sorts of problems, the spring wore the resivour, eventuallythe spring bent, and i broke the shock mouting bolt.

This year i have a nicolai helius st, it has a 2.5inch stroke shock, and 160-200 mm of travel. Now I can not run it in the 200 mm or 180mm setti8ng, but I can run it in the 160mm setting with a 700lb spring from fox. I took this to the alps this year (as I did with my helius fr last year) and it felt so much better and not one problem. As for the forks on the front you have to go air as you won't get a strong enough spring.

If you do want long travel full sus then I can pretty much discount any of those listed above... you need something with adjustable travel so you get get the leverage ratio down.

you want to get a leverage raion below 2.5, my nicolai is about 2.2

My other bike is cove andjob with air revelations, that is still going strong after 2 years.

18 bikes in the peak have nicolai test bikes. check the colour picker on nicolai's website before you think they're ugly.
