I know this must get asked a lot, but I'm hoping someone out there will be able to offer a little advice.
I'm buying my first mountain bike since my Specialized RockHopper Pro Disc (2003)that was promptly stolen and was itself a replacemnt for an Orange P7. Since then I've only ridden road bikes and haven't picked up a MTB magazine in years.
Due to the restrictios placed on the bike to work scheme I can only go through www.cyclesolutions.co.uk and spend a maximum of £500. So far I have come up with ...
Cannondale Trail SL5
Genesis Core 00
Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc
I'm guessing things have moved on a bit, I always fancied a Cannondale with a lefty fork and know Specialized are (or were) a pretty "standard" mountain bike. What about the Genesis? Is seems well specified, has the same frame as it more expensive siblings.
I'm looking for something to ride when I am out with the family, would be OK for singletrack. Of course as per the Bike2Work scheme it will spend the required time being ridden to work.
Any help would be appreciated and opinion!
