Anyone out there avoid the chat forum altogether?

I seem to find myself looking at the bike bit more and more of the time and not bothering with the chat at all.
It seems these days altogether too snipey, angst ridden fuelled by hate and insults and full of interllectual masturbation.

Has it always been like this, or is it just my time of the month?

I very rarely venture into the chat forum, but lately have been looking at the overall 'view' rather than clicking on either forum.

I tend to just use the summary page as that covers both of them and then read topics that i think are of interest!

Go through phases. Sometimes I prefer that sometimes this. 50/50 at the mo, I think because I'm not riding as much as I'd like.
But yeah, there are some right knobbers over there (here)

I try to stick to the bike forum, but sometimes get sucked in.

Wish I hadn't read that tube drivers thread - very unpleasant.

Chat is a chance to get to know and try to work out who the hell everyone really is.

Filter out the pi$$takes and don some your self....

makes us out to be normalish people rather than bike obsessives.

I use the summery most of the time. Much better than when you could only choose 'bikes' or 'chat'. I think dividing the forums killed off a lot of the interaction on here (before the summery page appeared) as people went to one or the other and participation in both sections fell. Though that could just be my perception, it may not be proved by stats.

I've never actually been on the chat forum...

I use this bike forum to share ideas, find advice, and get recommendations for products.

If I want to chat, I'll go chat with friends in real life..?
