Off to Majorca soon, hand luggage only. Is it worth taking a multi-tool or will airport security take it off me?

Even if it just has hex keys on it?

you can try but a hex tool held in a fist with a 5mm key stuck out through your knuckles might be viewed as a weapon?

if you're hiring a bike just ask the shop to include one in the rental?

Presumably you're hiring a bike - the road bikes that I've hired come with a small multitool so you don't need to take one. Otherwise just buy one out there and post it back to yourself at the end of your hols.

Handtools classed as prohibited items in hand luggage - you might get away with an Allen key or two, depends on whether the X-ray operators spots it

They used to be quite descriptive about particular blades and particular tools, especially screwdrivers, not being allowed and some being allowed but these days it just seems to say 'tools' are banned, on the Gatwick website it specifically lists multitools as prohibitted

Not as bad as Planes on a Bike - that movie didn't get off the ground.
