What's the general feeling? Had some very positive experiences recently but two poor instances today.

Any of the independents/LBS type shops I've been in recently - Great service
Cycle Surgery (Both of the ones near Liverpool St) - Great service
Evans - City branches - Service? What does that mean? No, far better to simlpy ignore all of your customers and have a chat amongst yourselves.....

Generally pretty good, I think. Brixton Cycles, Moose Cycles and Raynes Park Cycles. Most places seem to do their best, but always fall short if you assume that they should have CRC's warehouse out back and be intimately familiar with all of it. 🙂

This has been done to death but

14bikes in London = friendly, technically excellent and thoroughly recommended.

Wildside in Tunbridge Wells = never had anything other than dismissive, abrupt and generally sh*te service in the 20 odd years I've been forced to use them as my LBS of last-resort...

+1 CFH on Cyclesurgery and Evans.

Brixton bikes - great place
Brick Lane Bikes - wierd and twisted, lots of angry Czech mechanics. Tremendous for SS and fixed nicheness.
Mosquito Bikes - Bling! Nice guys too.
Condor - "Yeh alright, come in if you must. What you say? Yeh whatever."
Halfords (Bikehut) St Pauls - really very good shop, beleive it people.

My personal favourite is Cyclesurgery Highbury. Friendly, accomadating, good stock, and an incredible amount of real MTB knowledge for a shop on the Holloway Road. Spent best part of an hour with me a couple of weeks ago helping me with road shoes and cleats then matched the best price on googleshopping which I thought was way above and beyond. Didnt even ask them to do that.
