Dear Mavic,

Please make a 700c version of the EX721, or a 21mm wide version of the A719 - either would be fine, black or silver, you decide. 32 and 36 hole options would be great.

Thanks,

why?

Both rims are great, they are tough, build up fast, and hold true for ever. The A719 is my [29er] rim of choice, but I'd like one assuredly able to take a 2.4+ - at 19mm that'll be pushing it a bit (Mavic say it'll be ok to 2.3).

I am open to alternatives (which is a semantic/logical failure of course, as I'm asking for alternatives to something that doesn't actually exist), but I'm not sure that I've read very much that persuades me that I'd have the same confidence in my next wheelset as I would have building up another A719 rim (unless I stick with the A719).

A super light internal geared hub that never wears out and has a massive range of gears.

Drop bar hydraulic levers, STI or otherwise.

A viable alternative to derailleurs.

ski.

I'm with you on that one.

After a shed load of use these are starting to wear out.

I'd love to be able to replace them with a new pair. ๐Ÿ˜

Tarty option - I really want black and white chequered (spelling?) brack hoses. No idea why, just like the idea!

normal riding gloves that last more than a month.

Also, cranks that don't snap.

Blur 4X, same basic dimensions as my medium but an inch longer wheelbase and 1cm longer TT with a Maxle rear end, in a polished finish. Please.

Tom83 - it just so happens I spotted some on ebay earlier - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brake-outer-casing-black-and-silver-chequer-2-metres-/260751147871?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item3cb5fac35f . They do yellow and black, and rainbow too 8)

Ah, I guess you're after hydraulic hose though - could always swap to cable disc brakes ๐Ÿ˜†

microdrive for mountain bikes. meaning you can keep 3 small cogs up front and use a roadie cassette out back. that would be my dream setup.

Mamadirt - No way! I'm actually building up my dialled love/hate over the next month or so, and I'm using my spare mechanical disc brakes until the new deore hydrolics are out!

What a spot on evening, get home to find my SO has bought me some beer, now these cables!

Cheers for that!

I had a question about microdrive.....does anyone have any idea what the original front ring sizes were
it seems to make sense to me now

"microdrive for mountain bikes. meaning you can keep 3 small cogs up front and use a roadie cassette out back. that would be my dream setup."

You can do this. Alternatively, get very fit and just go for a roadie cassette. Used to do it. Downside, apart from the obvious is even more care needed to be in the correct gear for upcoming terrain - a block shift on a straight through is one or two cogs on a MTB cassette.

"isnt there a widget that converts cyclocross brakes to hydraulic"

Yep, a bit ugly, so I'm holding off to see if bespoke levers ever become available. The UCI allowing disks on crossers may speed this up - I hope.

P.S. Those chain rings up there ^ look nice.

A lightweight hub gear with a wide range.
Alfine is only about 400% range, which is not enough for a mountain bike.
Rohloff is about 500%, but it's got 14 gears. I usually shift two or more gears at a time, so something with the same range, but half the number of gears, would suit me if it was both lighter and had less drag.
