[#9469870]

So that was the worst ever bike ride; between Sandhurst and Wokingham.
If it was work related and H&S I could probably record at least 45 near misses to Wokingham Borough Council and try and put driver education on the agenda.
I try to put Emily on the road as much as possible but this one ride has properly scared me.

The double white lines actually mean something, dickheads overtaking on the crest of a hill, with oncoming traffic, then swerving in to avoid the oncoming cars multiple times, yeah, I'm here, ****wit!
Before you all say it; I do have a licence, I do pay my taxes, I have every right to be on the same roads.

But you don't pay road tax.

Pretty sure I do pay something to be on the road with a car and motorcycle.
Thank you for your input into my rant

But you jump red lights on one way streets whilst using the pavement uninsured

Filling in forms is pretty rubbish. I've only ever had to do it for races and uplifts though.

That was a poor rant. Far too reasonable and you got your point across really well. Virtual man hug for you.

They are allowed to cross the double white line to overtake a cyclist doing less than 10mph...I'd suggest you pedal faster.

Get an action camera and post on youtube as a vigilante cyclist.

strange how bus and lgv drivers and dash cam car drivers are not classed as vigilantes

Ride further out into the middle of the road at potential danger points like the crest of a hill... Or start paying road tax and stop jumping red lights

I used to live around that area and the roads are narrow. I wouldn't ride at school picking up time for rush hour as it's just mad.

If you were outside of those times I can sympathise but inside -

Kinda feel the OP's pain.
Had a ride like that last week - seriously considering getting an action cam and forwarding footage of 50 nutters a week to the police.

When driving home this afternoon, a fair few LEL riders were heading through the Borders in the opposite direction.

Some of the overtaking I witnessed was frightening. The worst being an hgv overtaking on a blind crest immediately followed by a downhill bend -
you can't see anything ahead, solid white lines down the whole hill. He then had to swerve back in when I appeared.

Hate to think how little room he left the cyclist.

HA!

You should try and cycle in central London 😆

Just get an action camera, seems to calm the motorists down a little bit. The other cyclists and pedestrians not so..

I had a fairly uneventful road ride tonight on the lanes between Stony Stratford and Buckingham, other than one close-but-not-that-close passing manoeuvre in the one 300 metre A-road section I can't avoid riding on.

However in the final bit of the ride a car dropped in behind on a climb then just sat there. I was going slowly; I'd done heavy deadlifts last night and had a long day at work. The car could have safely passed as soon as it got behind me, or soon after. This isn't an epic climb, but I just kept plugging away making slow progress. The driver sat there, in what sounded like 1st gear in a diesel for what felt like an eternity.
I created the brow and they still didn't overtake. They waited until the straightest section of road then passed me so wide that they were running the hedgerows at the side of the opposite lane.

I think they were just too considerate.

Just rode into Amsterdam with the family for the day. It was lovely, plenty of safe space ànd actually being seen by drivers.

Far safer, the cars are barely moving. Cycling in London is far less scary than a roads in the Home Counties much of the time.
