Hello there,

I'm after a dynamo powered mobile 'phone charger for use at a cycling festival this summer.

Looking for something that will bolt onto an existing bike that we'll have at the stall on a turbo-trainer. It needs to have adaptors for different sorts of 'phones.

Any ideas please?

Alex

Nokia make one

I think they do a 2mm to micro USB converter too, to charge nearly everything. Or use the charger wired to proporta, then the proporta will come with many different tips. even less efficient though.

Cheers pal, hadn't seen the adaptor, that looks like the front-runner.

Oh, if you want to get hold of a nokia cycle charger, I recommend you contact these people:

with your plans, ask if they can help you out. There's a good chance they will IME.

It's not got the charger listed, but ask them about it, they might help.

It'll take ages to charge a phone and any off the shelf system will likely only do one or two at a time. I think you'd be better off mounting a small car alternator to a bike, charging a car battery then use that to charge the phones.

Bit niche, and you'll need a dynamo hub, but this is a rather lovely thing:

There are various battery packs you can get from amazon which will be able to charge your phone many times over. That's the option I'd go for

Bit late to the party, but if you've already got a hub dynamo and have a soldering iron & some reasonable manual dexterity, you can always make one for a few quid.
