The wife would like a new bike rucsac / camelbak kind of thing. She currently uses my old HAWG (circa 2002) but is is getting rather tatty/broken now and is often so crammed full it doesn't sit right on her back.
Requirements are:
Takes 3L bladder.
Short back to suit ladylike proportions.
Good lateral stability.
Room for food, clothes, tools and an expensive camera that needs protecting (~15-20L).
Doesn't suffer from the "camelbak sausage" effect when used with a full water bladder.
External stowage options for when she feel the need to take half the house with her.
Other than training her to pack less, any suggestions?
Cheers,
P

Thanks Tracey but I think the internet may have eaten your picture..... 🙂
I bought Mrs NBT a camelbak LUXE and she loves it. THis does mean I have a Deuter "fully loaded" smart pack available if that interests you

Bladder's still sealed, all the bits are there. £25?
If you cant see the pic its a Deuter Futura 22 SL
Tracey - thanks very much. I can now see the picture. Not sure what happened there!
Everyone else - thanks for the ideas, keep 'em coming!
nbt- is it lady length? And what colour (probably just as important)?
It's black, and it's not womens specific, Mrs NBT much prefers the LUXE which is noticeably shorter, hence the Lezyne is up for sale.
Damn, doing myself out of a sale there. It's great, buy it. If you have a long back.
I do have a long back. I also have a lovely new EVOC pack. Thanks for the offer though, much appreciated.
I've been eyeing up the Camelbak Luxe (brown colour actually quite nice in the flesh), or Osprey Raptor - either should suit your lady nicely. 🙂
I've got a Camelbak Helena which is worth a look. It's not cycling specific but it's bloomin' good. It has loads of space inside for all your stuff (takes at least a 2.5l bladder) and has straps on the outside for arm/leg pads, and little mesh pockets at the bottom. It also has side compression straps so on days when you don't need to carry quite as much stuff you can shrink the bag down.
I looked for ages to find a pack that didn't bash me on the back of the head when descending and this one doesn't.
The only problem is that I can't remember where I got it from. Doh!
