what bike maintenance jobs are suitable for the technically (nearly) inept?I am thinking to save time and money so I would nt want to buy lots of really expensive tools just to save a couple of pounds

I was thinking of drivetrain replacement etc for starters, anything else and what tools would I need?

Thanks

Hex keys (good 'uns if you can..)Chain whip, lockring remover (possibly a big spanner for lockring remover)Chain tool. That should do a drive chain.

Hex and Torx keys are a good idea. I pick up bits from the local hardware store as and when. you don't have to spend mega money on stuff, but I've saved loads doing things myself.

IMO - Even with describing yourself as inept, leave the disc brakes and suspension to a shop then but you will be able to do everything else yourself.

As above, chain whip and lockring tool are worth buying, 4/5/6mm allen keys and a philips screwdriver will see you alright for most other jobs.
