I am slowly but surely coming to the end of finishing off my 'workshop' / utility room extension on the back of the house, where the bikes will live. I have got an anchor point I'll be fixing to the wall or floor shortly, but I'm going to need to get a lock to complete the set up.

I'm thinking that it'll probably be better to get a chain style lock, as it'll have a bit more flexibility' etc. but I'm open to ideas.

What's good and reasonably priced on the market these days?

I seem to remember seeing a review of a chain style lock in a previous singletrack world magazine, but can't for the like of me find it. That one seemed to get a good review and was only about £30.

Almax all the way for me, afaik the v3 and v4 still haven't been cropped with hand bolt-cropper (and using an angle grinder is obviously going to make a lot of noise). Not cheap but worth it for the peace of mind IMO.

I have a v3 chain + the Squire lock (which is very good to), only issue is it doesn't fit through my Kryptonite stronghold ground anchor unless you file away a chunk of the plastic surround (on the ground anchor). Sounds like you've already got a ground anchor to but otherwise I'd get one from Almax and save the hassle (it will take the v4 chain to). The guy @ Almax offers some good advice to (although he likes to talk :p ) so worth giving them a ring if you need advice.

About to buy a v4 chain + squire lock + defiant ground anchor from them myself as having 4 bikes through one anchor/chain is a hassle so going to secure them in pairs.

There's a review of locks in this months WMB. Might be worth 5 minutes read in WHSmiths
