Sorry, boring subject I know. Can anyone recommend a good specialist bike insurance company that doesn't nearly cost the price of a new bike?
Think most people will come through and say marks and spensers home insurense so give em a go to start with.
Bats.
M&S
Ooh, thanks guys. I will give them a spin
I'm with cycleguard.
Claimed recently after a crash, hassle free.
Halifax for me.
Contents insurance for the house and the garage round the corner, with a fair amount of expensive jewellery and £5k of bike cover (new for old and agreed value) home and away, plus 24hr call out for boiler fixing, leaky pipes etc.
£28/month.
I think M&S have a £4000 limit - something to check if applicable. Santander cover mine, got a replacement cost quote from LBS and with that they cover whatever the value. Covered home & away.
its a £4k limit to not be a declared item, they will cover over just have to declare it (most places are £1-1.5k)
Just switched from Halifax to M&S and saved £164 a year and have better coverage on everything but especially my bikes!
My buildings and contents combined is now £35 a month sounds like similar cover to poster above - away from home, accidental damage, emergency call out, legal fees and protected no claims etc
Zurich charged me an extra 50 quid to insure an 1100 quid bike. I thought that was fair enough.
Thanks all. I went for Halifax in the end for the whole shebang. Got all 3 bikes itemised to the value of £7,500 buildings and contents for £55 a month. Every one else came up short on the bikes value and getting cheap house insurance with a seperate specialist bike insurance was much more than this.
End of boring thread, thanks for being tolerant.
