I've got a really old orange x1 sat in my mum's garage at the moment doing nowt, she keeps on telling me to whack it on ebay, but I can't bring myself to do it, I know I'll probably never ride it again, but I can't bring myself to sell it, seeing that bike when I nip around to my parents brings back happy memories from my misspent youth, is it just me or are there other bike hoarders out there?

Do you ride it when you're there?

I still have every bike I've bought in the last 20 years....

currently trying to clean out everything older than 5 years (3 bikes) but it's not easy; a 10-20 year old bike isn't worth anything (unless it's something very special) but they're good bikes so it feels wrong to part with them for nowt. In the end I've given one to my brother, who needs a town runabout and managed to get some beans for another, now I just have to deal with the Stinky somehow.

it's heartbreaking though

My bro still has my old 92' GT Timberline. Its RockShox Quadras have long since seized up but I've told him I want it if he parts with it. Christ knows why... ๐Ÿ™‚

I still have my first mountain bike-a 1993 Ridgeback 706RS & the first bike I ever won a race on ('97 GT Zaskar) Haven't ridden either of them in years, but no way I'm selling them!
Also have several others over the years filling up the shed that just don't get used-perfectly normal & completely acceptable behaviour

I've got a lovely old Holdsworth road bike that I inherited. It's pretty much all stock 1950s stuff carefully chosen at the time to be the best stuff to race on, then it sat unused in my great uncle's garage and now it's sitting in my cellar. I can't bring myself to sell it but I'll never get round to cleaning and polishing the patina off it to properly restore it.

But it's still nice to look at every now and then.

I gave my 1997 fully rigid steel Stumpjumper to my dad - he absolutely loves it! My 1994 British Eagle Strike (!) is occasionally used to going to town (2 miles) and bike. If it gets nicked, we don't care. The panniers are worth more than the bike!

The other three bikes get used regularly.

Yeah - got a 1989 Ridgeback Rapide roadbike that is probably worth less 2nd hand than the price I paid for new chain rings and a few sundries a couple of years back (and promptly never used).

Also got a ca. 1996 Scott Vail MTB, which also can't be worth much more on ebay than the cost of shipping (maybe 2x the shipping cost).
