I am planning on doing the MTL with my eldest in a few weeks and splitting the ride over 2 days.

try the nutclough house hotel/b&b.. they are bikers (and have cycle hire etc). i live over the road, and they always seem busy.. a good sign!

We stayed at Croft Maill a few years back. It is a block of very nice self catering apartments. The owners couldn't have been any more helpful and even had a bike wash area and safe place to lock the bikes up in.
