I'm going to get my missus her first bike in about 15 years. Planned use will be parks and towpaths. No major hills or huge distances

She's 5'2.

I was thinking:

- Inbred slot dropout
- SS for simplicity 32-16
- 26 inch
- Kenda small block 8
- Ladies saddle

Should come in at 3-400 squid I reckon.

Any thoughts? Other suggestions?

Cheers,

Dave

Darn, I thought this was going to be about swapping one for the other....

However, despite my disappointment, your plan seems pretty sound. Have you thought about possibly getting an Alfine 8 speed squeezed into the budget?

What does she reckon about singlespeed? Gears are quite useful especially when getting back into it.

Does your wife have a beard? If not, then why a singlespeed?

Give her some gears!

Try to get some 165mm cranks. My OH is same size & this seemed to make a big difference comfortwise.
