[Closed] Bike 'dash' cam, what's good ?

Why are you using one? I only ask as if the incident happens you are still going to be injured or killed. We get customers asking for cameras & when asked why they want one 95% say "because it makes me feel safer" it won't stop an accident though.

Anyhoo one of the cheapest go pro or a copy like the one's Madison sell are probably best

i got one for commuting after being told i was at fault when a car turned across me/my lane at last minute and them attempting to push me for a claim of damage to their car.

they had witnesses/passengers - i did not.

they were still told to do one - but still nice to have a camera for next time.

what ever you get ensure it records on a loop- nothing worse than finding out you have a full memory card and have missed what ever you want to see.

I use a road hawk - as does my dad on his motorcycle (after a french van driver on a mobile phone mised a corner on a mountain road and plowed through him - then claimed it was *ze british on the wrong side of the road* police sided with him until shown the footage on the following bikes cameras..... )

No so bothered about preventing an accident as such, more to do with proving blame if there is one or providing evidence for reporting close or 'punishment' passes

Can you really not work out a scenario where having one could be a benefit ? Also as more and more cars and cyclists get cameras people might be a little more careful with their driving and a little more honest with their insurance claims which can only be good . I'm sure that it won't be long before somebody makes a GPS bike computer with a built in camera that isn't too unwieldy , when that happens they will fly off the shelves .

I’ve got the last gen cyclic ones and tbh I’d definately buy the rear one again.(I like getting animal pics off commute tbh)

its a useful rear light and having an ass cam is handy if any one decides to ram you off the road from behind IMHO.

Do get a bit annoyed when they try to flog this stuff under safety thou.

I wish they would flog it as safety kit, it might then be exempt from vat.

Having said that, anyone notice how the price of helmets crept back up to where it was after they stopped charging vat?

When was VAT charged on cycle helmets ?

Have heard about Cycliq but the reviews aren’t that great, big and heavy, unreliable, short battery life.

I'd beg to differ, too. I've found the accompanying app to be fairly rotten but the actual Fly12 itself is excellent (as is the Fly6).

How long is your commute?

the Polaroid cube2 on amazon can stretch to 90 mins.

light enough to be mounted on your bike helmet.

you can pick up the waterproof case (kingma) from dealextreme for a tenner.

there was a poor review on amazon, but she must have got a duff example...mines worked fine with a 64gb card.

good way to 'capture' sloppy driving/ riding, but I think it's time the govt made number plates larger!

oh, and there's an app on android that does navigation, dash cam and collision detection rolled into one "Autoguard"
