I'm looking to get a bike seat for my son to go on rides now, if for no other reason than I want an excuse to get out on the bike for a bit 🙂 wondering what style of seat are the best but also whether I can even fit one to my bike. It's a 2016 Dartmoor hornet, doesn't have rack mounts and has a dropper post. Seems like most of the rear mounted ones attach to a pannier rack? The TT mounted ones appear to clamp to a seat post which will probably damage my dropper so do I have any decent options left? Trailer might be an option i suppose.
I think it is Hamax ones that clamp to the seat tube (not the seat post). That could work. The bracket is fugly thou<span style="font-size: 0.8rem;">gh!</span>
We had a topeak rack mounted seat which was great. I bought an on one steel frame with rack mounts to put it on. If you have the space and spares bin a kid lugger bike is pretty handy. Having a not that nicakble bike meant we used it more for little trips to the park, meals out etc.

I run a wee ride with a reverb on two bikes. One is stealth, the other regular. Works absolutely fine (obviously clamp it to the non-moving part of the post!).
There have been two other threads exactly like this in the last week, I'd say search for them but I think one of the improvements to the forum was to **** the search.

The wee rides that clamp to the seat post, how much non-dropper needs to be exposed? I probably have about 2" before the collar, and my post is shimmed from 30.9 to 31.6 if that changes things?
Edit - never mind, a wee ride won't work as my frame has an integrated headset so there's no head tube for the front mount to fit. Any other good front mounted options?
There's an Oxford products one that I looked at but it's basically just a saddle on the top tube so suited to older kids.
Yeah he's 17 months so probably still a bit tough for that. I've read that the cantilever clamp style ones (Hamax etc) can damage alloy frames as they're thinner tubes, any truth to that?
Bought a bike that would take a rack mounted seat in the end due to none of the current bikes being suitable for any type of seat, apart from maybe a stem mount on the enduro bike. New bike also conforms to n+1, so have something I didn't have before and also less likely to be trying BPW with child aboard new bike unlike the most viable alternative I had.
Bike seat is ex-local hire place, a Hamax. Just need to get some bolts for the rack.
You’ll need about 15mm of seatpost sticking out.
