Anyone got any suggestions for roof mounted lockable bike carrier and roof bars for a 5-series BMW saloon? Or if there is a lockable boot mounted option that doesn't require a tow-bar fitting?

BMW room bar options are a bit pricey and show room aren't sure if the roof bars are a permanent fixture once attached.

Carrier wise I'm thinking Thule but open to other ideas.

What year is your 5 series?

I've got some BMW bars and 2x lockable bike carriers I've had in my garage for the last 3+ years that I keep meaning to sell

I have a 5 series touring - E61

I use Thule wingbars and the normal footpack to fit to roof rails (the type you can get your hand all around)

Then use prorides to fit bikes to. In fact my bike is on the top of my car in the car park, going for a ride tonight

All locks using the supplied Thule locks and keys

Go onto Thules website. I think theres a configurator thing which tells you what stuff you need.

Then go onto the net and buy it as cheap as possible. I got all my stuff from skidrive (?). Two 591s, bars and fitting kit for less than Halfords wanted just for the bars IIRC.

All the Thule stuff is lockable too. Mines coming up to being in regular use now for 9 years and its been perfect despite seeing use on 4 cars in that time.

I've got these looking for a new home if anyone is interested?

Been used on a E46 3 series touring (raised roof rails) and E61 5 series touring (raised roof rails), but should fit any car with non-flush rails.
