Hi All,

We recently got rid of our car, the thought of it sitting there depreciating on the side of the road, the fact we moved to London and a general desire to be a bit more green, all added to the decision.

Anyhow, I now rent a car when we travel to see grandparents etc. I’ve previously had a bike rack that just straps on to the boot, it’s pretty old and a bit rusty, but it’s easily adaptable to any car. Are there any other easily adaptable options? Roof rack and tow bars are obviously out, Or should I be thinking of replacing like for like.

Hire a van/people carrier instead?

Or get a Seasucker rack.

Seasucker is a great option. Goes on pretty much any car. Leaves no marks and is compact for storage etc: Even had mine in the bike bag, ready for holiday rental cars.

Seasuckers seem to work well, although always look a bit scary 😲

A small car based van would be a good option. I've got a hire car at the moment while my car is in for repair. While scanning the agreement I noticed there was specific warning about attaching racks etc being prohibited and would void the insurance. So worth checking that.

Thanks everyone, I think seasuckers look like the go to option.
