Bought one of the cheapy bullet cams from 7dayshop here, and it's going on it's first outing this weekend (so I can record how truely mediocre I am!). Where's best to mount these things - bars, helmet? Figured it might wobble about a bit on my lid, so was thinking about bar mounting it, does that give decent results from a "picture" pov?

Sorry for the potentially naff question!

Actually, I've got a clip on one I could stick on my chest too, though it has the fiddliest record button ever ๐Ÿ™‚

where ever make sure you get something in the shot remains static to the camera..

so if mounted on frame makes sure part of the frame is in the shot etc, if mounted on helmet, make sure part of helmet is visible in the shot..

makes watching them back much much much better

This is vital. A good option, if you can be assed, is mounting on a pole so you get a chase-cam style view, with the rider central in frame. Easy enough to keep the pole out of shot.

Good tips, however I'm not really aiming for Collective style camera work here, just something to show my kids how rad-core-awsum-gnarly I was, back in the day! ๐Ÿ™‚

Have the same camera and mount on the seat tube just below clamp.
Can point it forwards or backwards.
Use a bracket from Deal extreme, Can dig out details or pics if u send me your email.

I'm using one of the DE mounts Dave - if you could send me some pics of where you've got yours that would be good, ta. What's the general quality of the output like?

I'll go and take some pics.
Quality is great for the money.

I have a fairly cheap oregon scientific cam that comes with a handlebar mount, i tried it for a couple of runs but the picture was very shaky, i then tried it on the lid which was much much better but as there is no playback until you get home, there was a lot of sky shots!! however after getting the mounting pitch right the lid is definitly the best place for it.

having said that, i'd love a HD Camera Pro as i agree the cheast mount is probably the best judging by the You Tube vids out there

Narwhal cam (pole on a full face is the greatest angle ever)

Ewan - I'm sure it is, but I'd look a right c*ck on my local XC loops with a big pole sticking off my head! ๐Ÿ™‚
