rumours, urban legends, sales pitches, utter cock or just good old Bull...
let us have them..
Titanium frames are more comfortable than aluminium ones.
that CRC employ humans capable of answering a ****ing phone call 🙁
That it matters how heavy your bike is 😉
Apparently cars cost the same as many reasonable quality bikes.
And many saddles are as uncomfortable as razor blades.
"These bloody forks aren't working properly"
Spoken by Hora at the bottom of every single descent. Even though they're the 27th different set he's owned in the last year
BBs need facing
Wheelbuilding is difficult
29ers inherently suit taller riders better
CK headsets are good value for money (at usual retail prices)
Steel frames are all springy, aluminium ones all stiff and dead.
Carbon is crap for mtbs because of lack of impact resistance
Wavy/bent/skinny seat/chainstays make the back end of the bike comfortable
8/9/10 speed is weaker and wears significantly faster than the previous iteration and clogs with mud more.
Pretty much any material science stuff that the mags print (which I note ST mag rarely does - thumbs up!)
You NEED x inches of travel for a particular type of riding or conversely that just because one of the STW-heroes has cleaned a 2 mile vertical drop on a cx bike with a spike for a saddle, skinny tyres at 1000psi and no brakes that everyone else can do so and more importantly will enjoy it.
Tubeless tires means less flats.
"My helmet, almost certainly!, saved my life!" 🙄
That weight doesn't matter.
'i cant bunnyhop without clips'
no son, you cant bunnyhop...
That there's a 'proper' way to bunnyhop (yes, I can do it with flats 😉 )
XC is mountain biking...
SS will **** your knees (good on this one)

Commuting by bike isn't dangerous
England has 'moutains'
Balls is the only thing you need to jump
SFB got one problem
WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. You really couldn't make it up.
The Enigma has just emailed me moaning about his new forks. And using them as a lame-arse excuse for not riding tomorrow night.
Hora - you're becoming a cliche 😉
brake pad bedding-in
Lightweight bikes would break on proper mountain bike trails, and corollary that if you can do it on a lightweight bike it's not proper MTBing.
XC isn't mountain biking.
To get fit on a MTB you don't need to do loads on a road bike. 8)
Forestry commission ranger recently likened MTBing to
Dragging a ships anchor across the Great barrier Reef 😯
a bit of a stretch I though, but nobody was going to argue, not worth the effort

"you can get a decent mountain bike in town for a hundred quid! why does anyone need to spend £X? it just a bike"

that bikes cause more erosion than horses

Cleaning bikes it s waste of time
This full suss frame completely eliminates pedal bob
helmets aren't effective, anyone claiming so is delusional and under the influence of big helmet-y business
this or that kit is a game-changer (not always incorrect only 99% of the time...)
Quarries are good
There is a fat-burning zone
Steve Peat for Sports Personality of the Year
And according to a Hovis packet I've got here, Victoria Pendleton rides a bike with a chainring on the left, using Adidas trainers and clips'n'straps.
it wasnt very good at "x" location the other day.the surface was really "squirrely"
a)WTF is "squirrely"?
b)is that even a word?
b)is that even a word?
if it is, it sounds good :o)
every year a company launches a new suspension platfrom it is 150% better than last years
V brakes aren't powerful enough.
"bikes aren't allowed here"
Things I've seen at Swinley.............
Newbies on £2500 bikes becasue Evans told them thats what was required.
A guy on a stumpjumper HT (the 90mm forked XC bike) in full on starship trooper gear.
No I said I don't fancy riding the 7.5lb 66's on my bike tomorrow night! They are just too overkill and chuffin heavy. The Distributors have sent me a brand new set of forks yesterday after giving up on the previous ones so should be with me tomorrow... hence I've mentally moved on from using the iron girder forks and cant wait to ride on something luvly again!

That larger tyres at the same pressure exert more 'force' on the rim... 😉
hmmmm seen it rather than heard it.
no problem with pads at all... but people riding with body armour strapped to their bags/back for them to put on for the 'tech'/dh sections.
either wear it, or dont wear it FFS.
Fox getting their 2010 prices wrong. I guess Mojo misjudged what the market would pay...

oi, sometimes these things are quite true, much like having a pressure suit probably saving spine, shoulders and ribs!

Are you sure about all of these HoratioHufnagel? 😉
That Fox are interested in supplying after-market forks rather than just getting as many forks on OEM bikes as possible.
Skills training tosh? Obviously not done a decent course!!

That be me that be! What's the problem with it? Have you ridden laggan black or CBM? I'll carry the pads up for the first descent after a long lay off of gnar, such as after this winter where after 4 months snow is still a factor, but usually don't bother with them at all. I certainly don't like doing a 750m climb with them on. Canny see your issue but each to their own.
That taking 2000+ photos during a ride doesn't interrupt the riding!! 😉
That anything sub-Deore level isn't worth having on an MTB.

gosh I'm jealous, my max was 1283 in 5 hours last Saturday :o)
each to their own indeed. just find it amusing when the top of glentress looks like everest base camp, with 50 riders all decamping and redressing for a 5 minute downhill!
then presumably stopping and getting changed again as soon as it rises up!
