Mavic Crossland wheelset, almost half price (£200 to £110), delivered in 22 hours 😛

Cycleworlduk, all warranty issues are dealt with by the retailer. Doesn't matter if it's OE or not, Merlin have to sort it out if there is a problem (Feel like I'm teaching how to suck eggs here...)

So what is the difference between OE and real Pikes

Reba SLs from them for my SS - cheap as chips - recently - spare headset thrown in - arrived fast.

Funny squeaky noise from them on the bike (which might have been brake cables rubbing against each other in retrospect) so I e mailed them, they said send 'em back. They tested them, road tested them, took the lowers off, reassembled, contacted me and then sent them back. All done in less than a week.

Brilliant service.

Jam bo - extra 10% of an already low price I think.

Trout, it depends, but usually it's the lack of the original box & shock pump as they're bought in bulk

Sometimes the steerer is cut, or the internals have been tweaked to a manufacturers spec.

Cheeky advertising. How can you have a saving off RRP when these OE units are not the normal retail/boxed items available over the counter?

Cheers Orangista
True didnt get a pump but then didnt know one comes with real RS shocks
Steerer intact and I guess they wont make the internals worse will they .

Couldnt find them cheaper anywhere else so they got my money and seem very good .

Hello Trout, Its true that OE will mostly not come with a pump...But the coil pikes do not come with a pump anyway, as they are a coil fork...

But it doesn't matter if they're OE or not, your warranty is with the retailer not the manufacturer. If there's a problem within the warranty period, get them back to Merlin who will either have to fix, replace or refund.

Not only are the internals different, but in some cases they've filed the serial number off the fork and painted over it, invalidating the warrenty in every shape and form.

...or keep the part for a few weeks telling you that someone else has to look at it (so do they still deal with Madison as I'm sure it was them they said?) and then say "no warranty" the 3rd party told us it isn't a warranty issue you broke it...no replacement or refund or even a discount on a replacement (yes I am bitter)

It was fisher that I spoke to and they couldn't have given less of a sh1t if they'd tried. Merlin did fix the cartridge but charged us £45 for a service because they were full of dust.. on Forks that had just been serviced by Fisher and hadn't been ridden yet

I'll never buy anything from them again

I also had a disappointing warranty experience with Merlin. Following a prompt automated reply on receipt, I waited for over a month only to receive my faulty item (Altura shorts) back in the post with no supporting information whatsoever. I chased it up a few times during the month but got no reply and couldn't be bothered after getting the shorts back.

For most bike parts I now find establised sellers on ebay to be the fastest, cheapest and most dependable (maybe as they are protecting 100% feedback).

They've got Crossmax SLR wheelsets for under £300 at the moment - that's £350 less than anywhere else I've seen!!

They ain't all that
i had a problem earlier this year - their attitude beggared belief.
worked out i had spent at least 6k with them in the last 8 years (does that make me a good customer?)
either way, i wont be a "good" customer again.

And as for quick delivery..... it makes sense to dispatch stock asap after payment to make room..... i would suggest it has more to do with their order/work load or the ability of the courier!

Touche!

Just like Crc are also.

Hence why I haven't purchased from neither for years.

Would rather pay a bit extra like a few on here to support local and up and coming shops which show initiative to be committed to customer service and come across with a good basic attitude.

The attitude thing really bugs me as I have found so many times with shops who are just reaching out into the mail order world and becoming bigger.

I also understand it's a business but is meant to be one of those business's that's more laid back and one which should ''get on well with'' fellow riders at the end of the day.

My pounds worth! 🙂
