[#805182]

dhb's Finchdean
or
Endura FS260 Pro

This is the question.
They're for long rides, so I am unsure which will be the better of the two.
I think £70 is more than enough to spend on a quality pair of bib shorts so don't mention Assos as it's not going to happen!

DBH. Great quality and fit. Not bothering with Endura any more.

Have you had both these bib shorts?
I have a pair of the 260 pro and like them, but I am happy to try another if people have experience.
Cheers

All of the endura kit I have had in the last 2 years has fallen appart very quickly. Just ordered some finchdean bibs as most of the stuff I have had from DHB lasted well in the past.

As above, Endura has just become too variable in quality to bother with any more. Have some of their stuff (not bibs though) and it's fine, but some stuff is shite.

Have got DHB bibs, and the quality is fine.

I bought some 3/4 DHB Finchdean that the stitching fell apart whilst trying them on, I changed them for the cheaper Merston which seemed better put together and half the price. Maybe get the Earnley & Finchdean and see which fit best

If you can stretch to £80, go for the dhb Knowle shorts.
The finchdeans are fantastic and excellent value, but the Knowle shorts are amazing. Never had a comfortable pair of shorts.

I'm rating the Giordana stuff with the 1.5mm laser cut neoprene bib tops for my darkside riding, used to be Assos but these are as good and half the price.

Ordered:
1 x dhb Knowle Bib Shorts Large Black
1 x Assos Chamois Cream

I'll let you know how I get on as these are quite a bit more dosh than my Endura FS 260 Pro bib shorts, which I like a huge amount.
I wanted them with more padding (?) and I did have a few issues with scrot-rot at both Bonty 24 and Sleepless with the Enduras - but that may just be me.
I am advised to take a 1x dose-kills-all pill from the pharmacy too which may help on these 12hrs+ rides.

I don't think you will be disapointed, the fit and performance is superb and they feel almost invisible in use.
Not had any problems with saddle sores or discomfort in my 12/24hr events.

I do like how people don't actually read the thread, and keep making recommendations after you've said you've already bought some.

If you're doing a 24 solo or whatever, wear two pairs. It's only sensible!

Lexs have Gore Xenon for just above £70 and are just gorgeous. More of a roadie short but significantly tricker than the budget stuff.

njee20 - Not at the same time I assume! 🙄

This was my problem I think, not changing bib shorts - but then, if I do manage to make it to Keilder, it's not like I can change them 1/2 way 'round!

(I seem to have picked up a calf "niggle" so I'd best try a gentle ride this evening and see what that's all about)

Oh I would & if the inner pair got particularly minging - I'd swap them around mid ride 😀

I see no reason why you need to wear 2 pairs of shorts. I have never done this and never had problems. It could create more problems than it prevents.

The only time I change shorts during a 12/24hr race is if there is a period of wet weather followed by dry weather, in which case its not nice riding in wet gear when it is possible to keep dry.

I bought 2 pairs of the Earnleys as dhb kit was getting good reviews. I thought that even as a budget short they appeared poor. Returned for 1 pair Endura FS260s. Only worn them a few times but very comfortable and quality seems good so far. I'm amazed at the comments I'm seeing about Endura recently. I must be lucky as the kit I have had (and I have a LOT) has been great. Even sent back a pair of 3/4s that were a couple years old and well worn. Pad edge was coming undone and just wanted a repair that I expected to pay for. They installed a new pad free of charge! Until I experience problems myself Endura are a company that I will be continuing to use.

Actually I posted a reply because sometimes people use the forum search facility for research, so while it may not help the original poster, it might help someone who's asking roughly the same question in the future.

I do like how people on here nit-pick without engaging their brain first 😉

They were £89, so quite a lot.
The fit is amazing.
Now the real test - Kielder Killer 100 miles and rain forecast.
More later...

I am a complete convert.
These are absolutely fabulous bib shorts.
And the Assos chamois (?) cream worked a treat too.
