[#3058671]

I did this last year and remember 90% of the route as it's stuff that I regularly ride. What I can't remember is the start section.

We left Hope College and rode down the road turning left just after 18 Bikes but then it goes hazy. I think we used gravel paths and popped out on the road at Bradwell. We then turned right and left the road again onto gravel paths which undulated round the back of the Cement works I think before joining a road which descended into Castleton.

Does anyone have any details, maps, links, etc for this section? I hope to ride the route this weekend and wondered if my hazy memory will be enough to ride this section without getting lost.

I'm not sure it is Chris. I thought Pindale was the part near Castleton that heads off towards the quarry.

I've checked the maps/routes in The Dark Peak Guide and it seems to suggest a road ride from Hope to Bradwell and then off-road from Bradwell to Castleton behind the cement works. Yet I'm sure I remember riding gravel paths / bridleways. Might just try and wing that bit unless someone comes up with the answer. ๐Ÿ™‚

p.s. it wasn't pindale and I think you've got it about right - names of places (and my kids) escape me so will sort out tomorrow if you still need it.

Thanks ss, I can't really do much with the .gpx file but if you can print/convert that section to .jpg that would be great.

Your directions are correct, but it is road to Bradwell.

Pass 18 bikes on your left and turn right (south) at x-roads, then bear left, to Bradwell and right on gravel tracks behind the cement works, then road into Castleton.
