BFeMax sizing

[#13046273]

So it's taken me about 10 years to start thinking about getting a new bike which means I have no idea about current bike sizing.

Am looking for a 29" steel hardtail which can do a bit of everything, but mostly bashing around the lesser known bits on the Chase, with some occasional bikepacking and other things thrown in...

Looked about I thought the BFeMax looked like a good idea, and like Cotic as a brand, so sorted... well, not quite...

I have always previously gone for medium frames, but there are only small or XL in stock. However at 5'8 that puts me at the top of the height range for the small... but am not sure if that would actually be a better fit anyway, coming off an old (2013) Ragley Piglet with a less stretched out position.

So, I guess the question is just how long are the BFeMax frames, would a medium actually be too long, or would the small be okay...

And why do I find it so hard to make decisions these days? 😀

Talk to Paul or Sam @ Cotic. They'll give you the best advice.

I’m sure the hardtail party review on YouTube talks about about small vs medium? Might be worth a watch. Could be his initial first look video and not the ride review.

Have a look on geometrygeeks and compare the numbers with your current frame. Should give you a good idea.

Cotics are quite big frames. I'm 5"11 on a medium so a small might be good.

If you're close to Sheffield you could sit on my girlfriend's small BFEMax to see how you feel on it?

Had a watch of the Hardtail Party review... he rather likes it does he! But he's shorter than me, but said he would have preferred a medium, but then it sounds like he wants a long bike for the riding he does...

Also had a look on Geometry Geeks... it says the sear tu e angle is the same, but current bike has a steeper head angle but similar (4mm shorter) effective top tube length as the small frame... which I guess would mean it would be slightly shorter than my current bike when built as the stem on the Cotic is likely to be shorter.

Thanks for the offer gotbike, but getting time to get to Sheffield could be tricky...

So, looks like I'll be speaking to Cotic on Monday then...

Thanks all
